STC NSUKKA EMERGE THE WINNER AT THE GRAND FINALE OF THE NILDS NATIONAL QUIZ COMPETITION

In its ongoing effort to instill democratic principles in young Nigerians attending secondary school, the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS) has launched its annual quiz competition.
The initial phase of the eighth edition of this competition was conducted nationwide on Thursday, October 12, 2023, where each geopolitical zone of Nigeria was selected to represent them at the grand finale.
Correspondingly, on November 16, 2023, the grand finale of the occasion was conducted in Room 231, Senate Building, National Assembly Abuja. This competition serves the noble purpose of providing a sustained education on matters related to the legislative branch while enriching students’ understanding of civic and democratic governance.
Hence, the competition was graced by Professor Abubakar O. Sulaiman, Director-General of NILDS, President of the Senate, Sen. Godswill Akpabio, and Speaker, House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen, represented by Minority Whip, Hon. Ali Isah, dignitaries, and participants from Schools include the following;
School of the Gifted Gwagwalada, Abuja.

Government Pilot Secondary School, Daura, Katsina State (North West),
PenResource Academy Gombe, State (North East),
St. Teresa’s College Nsukka, Enugu, Enugu State (South East),
Greater Tomorrow International School, Arigidi-Ikare Akoko, Ondo State (South West)
Regardless of the nature of the competition, St. Teresa’s College Nsukka, Enugu State, who was represented by Chinedu Emmanuel Ogar and Chigozie Emmanuel Okwor, emerged as the winner of the competition. Greater Tomorrow International School, Arigidi-Ikare Akoko, Ondo State, secured the 2nd position, while the School for the Gifted, Gwagwalada, claimed the 3rd spot.
The STOBANS, under the auspices of their National President, Prof Johnny Eluka, celebrated their national champions in a grand style.
Speaking to the Shepherd Communications, the Principal of Rev Fr Paul Ali thanked the two students and assured them that what they just witnessed is a testimony to the fact that, hard work has never failed anyone. "Let this be the lesson that the rest of the students have to learn" he added. As part of the celebration of this success, Fr Paul declared Saturday being the 18th of November 2023, a free/outing day for the whole students.
